BBR Creative’s Denise Gallagher of Lafayette has caught the eye of the 108-year-old Society of Illustrators. Her work was chosen from thousands of entries around the world for an exhibit of top illustrators in the Museum of American Illustration. The piece, entitled “Her Guests Considered Her Unconventionally Charming”, was for a book by Von Glitschka called Drip. Dot. Swirl.

Bizzuka, Inc., a provider of component-based Web and intranet-based solutions, has created a new videos series focused on helping small businesses utilize the Web as a cost-effective marketing channel. Compressor Engineering Corp. has new facilities in Livingston Industrial Park in Walker. The 44,000-square-foot facility will house offices, a parts warehouse, a machine shop and an equipment staging area. The $5.4 million expansion will help retain 13 jobs and create 21 new ones over two years, at an average salary of $53,000 per year. Headquartered in Houston, CECO is an independent manufacturer of engine and compressor replacement parts and serves gas pipelines, gathering and processing companies, and petrochemical, industrial and refrigeration plants worldwide.

InfiniEDGE and nStrumental have moved into the first building of what will eventually be part of an eight-acre tech park in Prairieville. The software development and graphic design firms owned by Brad and Czarina Walker celebrated the grand opening of their new $1 million two-story digs with a Super Bowl-themed party for 125 guests. The couple plan to start construction on the first of three more buildings sometime in 2010.

Starmount Life Insurance Company has broken ground on its new headquarters. Once complete, the enlarged corporate office will allow Starmount to increase its employment to 200 associates over the next five years.

The University Medical Center Respiratory Therapy Department has earned Quality Respiratory Care Recognition from the American Association for Respiratory Care. The QRCR designation ensures quality respiratory care in a hospital and helps patients and families make decisions about the quality of the respiratory care services available at the institution of their choice. About 700 hospitals in the United States, or nearly 15%, have the designation.

Harrah’s Foundation is a recipient of the WYES President’s Award for partnering with local communities. Over the past year, the foundation made a major donation towards the station’s rebuilding effort. When the series This Old House came to New Orleans to rehabilitate a home in the Lower Ninth Ward, Harrah’s Foundation underwrote the 10-part series when it aired on WYES. Harrah’s Foundation funded Caring For Your Parents, a program produced by PBS. In addition, Harrah’s New Orleans partnered with WYES to offer free screenings promoting the educational special. WYES annually honors those who have made a major contribution to the success of public television in greater New Orleans and the Gulf South.

Tahseen Rab has been named North Oaks Health System’s “Physician of the Year” for dedication to people, service, leadership, continuous improvement in patient care and community involvement. Rab has been a member of the North Oaks Medical Staff since August 2003 and practices in Hammond.

North Oaks Clinic network has grown to 13 facilities with the opening of its ENT & Allergy Clinic in Hammond. Dr. Jacques Peltier and his staff will treat patients of all ages for ear, nose and throat conditions.
