Hometown favorites: Slidell Train Depot and Jasmine’s French Cuisine

“My hometown is very special to me. My father was mayor of this city for 17 years, and the first place I would recommend to anyone visiting Slidell is actually a combination of three places that are right next to each other, and that were part of the legacy he built in Slidell. Located in the historic Slidell Train Depot, The Times Bar & Grill is a great place to get a “world famous” burger, or some fantastic crawfish bisque. Next door, in the same depot is The Beignet Station, a great place to get a hot cup of café o’ lait and some piping hot fresh beignets, a New Orleans favorite. Once the required fill of burgers and beignets has been met, take a stroll behind the Train Depot to beautiful Heritage Park. This park sits on a picturesque bayou and has winding walking trails, a large open field for play, and if you’re lucky, there will be a top-notch musical act playing in the amphitheater. There is even a grand kid’s playground that was built by volunteers from all over the community. If someone is looking for fine white linen dining, go across the street from the Train Depot to Jasmine’s French Cuisine, or down Highway 11 toward Lake Pontchartrain to Michael’s Restaurant. Both offer exquisite service and impeccable food.”
